A Billion + Change: Mobilizing Billions in Skills-Based Volunteering
On Monday, February 27, A Billion + Change will celebrate the progress and the latest achievements of the campaign at Morgan Stanley’s headquarters in New York City. In conjunction with International Corporate Philanthropy Day and the annual Board of Boards CEO Conference of the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP), this celebration will offer businesses and pledge companies an opportunity to network with and learn from industry, civic and nonprofit leaders engaged in best-practice corporate volunteer programs. Industry leaders will discuss the passion, drive and vision behind their corporate citizenship, as well as how their programs are making a difference in the areas of disaster response and other pressing social, environmental and economic issues. The morning celebration will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon, with an afternoon session following from 1:00 p.m. to 3 p.m.
“Our pro bono initiatives continue to capitalize upon the talents of Morgan Stanley’s professionals to provide transformative strategic advice for our nonprofit partners. Through A Billion + Change, we affirm our commitment to skills-based volunteer engagement and the importance of these programs to both our employees and our local communities,” said Joan Steinberg, Head of Community Affairs at Morgan Stanley, a pledge company and a founding sponsor of A Billion + Change.
If you pledge to join A Billion + Change by February 15, your company will be recognized, along with Morgan Stanley and the 60 + companies that have taken the pledge, during the event and in national press and event marketing materials. To take the pledge and to see what other companies have done so, visit our website at: www.abillionpluschange.org.
“We are pleased to join Morgan Stanley and the Leadership Committee of A Billion+Change in challenging the business community to pledge its most valuable resource —the professional talent of its people—to help nonprofits to grow and thrive.” Said Jean Case, CEO of the Case Foundation and a member of the A Billion + Change Leadership Committee.
An afternoon learning workshop will follow the morning celebration, and will take an in-depth look at topics such as: best-practice corporate volunteer models in disaster response, corporate volunteerism as a workforce engagement strategy, SBV metrics, and more.
This event will be sponsored by Morgan Stanley. For businesses that have not yet taken the A Billion+Change pledge and are interested in receiving an invitation, please contact Yvonne Siu at
